Full "Media Interview" of Players - Leanne Lee
Sportsoho Issue Aug 2023
Hello, my name is Leanne. I'm an 11-year-old tennis lover who started my journey in the world of tennis when I was just six years old. I vividly remember my first One Sports UTR tournament, a day filled with jittery nerves and raw emotion. Yes, there were tears, and inevitably, a loss, but it was an experience that taught me resilience. I learned that on the court, tears are not the solution, determination is.
One lesson that tennis has taught me is that fear of losing can be my greatest enemy. The more I allowed the thought of loosing to consume me, the more mistakes I committed, which only led to me loosing more confidence. My father offered me a piece of advice that I carry with me always - to focus solely on my favorite shot, my forehand. Concentrating on perfecting that shot, rather than the fear of losing, transformed my game. Now, whenever I'm anxious, I channel all my energy into hitting my forehand, allowing it to be my focus point.
I've participated in numerous One Sports UTR tournaments, each one a stepping stone, leading me to not only win some matches but also to gain invaluable experience. Every tournament has been a lesson in overcoming my initial nervousness, refining my focus, and building my confidence. I am grateful to One Sports for organizing these events that have such a huge impact on young tennis players like myself.
But it's not all about the competition; it’s also about the friendships I've made along the way which I am so thankful for.
The thrill of the competition, the joy of meeting new friends, and the anticipation of the next One Sports UTR event, all add to my love for the game. I am truly excited about my future in tennis and look forward to many more opportunities to compete, learn, and grow. Thank you.
